June 2, 2021 Wednesday Afternoon
Steve's heart rate remained in the 90's all day! The three of us were able to visit with Steve again, holding his hand, talking to him and praying over him. I had some time to myself with him after the girls left. I played his favorite worship songs and sang along, read his daily scripture reading to him, played parts of yesterdays White Sox game and we face timed his mom. ❤️ His eyes immediately flew open when he heard her voice and stayed open the entire conversation. I played many of his voicemails I have been saving so he could hear all your voices cheering him on. His eyes were open most of the time that we were with him. He still isn't connecting eyes or following commands, but the heart miracle and more wakefulness are certainly good signs! All the nurses, techs and doctors all had smiles today when they stopped in. Steve has a lot of healing to do, but nothing is too big for our God.
With the scary news of yesterday, I spent the night listening to scripture. This is my favorite one (link on the bottom), I love that it is chunks of scripture, not just a verse. The other huge thing that helps to keep me on track is my small group, and all my prayer warriors who send me scripture, songs and prayers. I feel like Moses, who being so exhausted from holding up his arms, his friends held his arms up for him. Every time his arms dropped, the battle started going wrong for the Israelites, but when his arms were up, they were winning the battle. Do you take the opportunity to hold up another's arms while they are in a battle? I think of so many opportunities that I have missed and this experience has really brought up the importance of being a support to someone going through it. A huge benefit is not only helping another, but seeing The Lord's hand at work.
Steve's brother, Brian is flying in tomorrow morning and he will be able to see Steve! My middle sister just arrived today! We are so thankful for packing angels today and more tomorrow. My sister is taking Riley back to Baltimore to be with Adam tomorrow and he is doing so well! He will be in rehab soon and we pray it won't be a long stay and that he will continue on his healing trajectory. So much to be thankful for and give praise! Thank you all for the overwhelming love and prayer, we are humbled and so very touched. Love you all. I'll update tomorrow. 😊
