June 5, 2021 Saturday evening
Happy Sunday Eve! Brian had a short visit with Steve before heading back to Chicago today, then I was allowed with special permission to come up. Steve was very sleepy again today. Yesterday was tough with trying to keep his BP up and heart rate down, that really wore him out. Today was a day of rest and healing. The huge praise is that he is totally off one BP raising med and went from 600 down to 90 on the other BP raising med! AND He is off the drip med to keep heart rate down and just receives a pill in his food! Huge Praises! That means that he is doing most of the work keeping his heart stable and not as reliant on meds. They ended up not needing to do dialysis today, they are really trying to get him onto a three day a week cycle. They will re-assess in the morning. He only reacted three times, he turned his head when he heard his mom's voice, he did the same with his sister's voice (both on the phone), and he opened his eyes when I was playing a Randy Travis Hymn. I spend time talking, singing praise music and reading his favorite devotions which usually morph into lots of prayer because they are so good!
Steve has had a really hard week with lots of ups and downs. We had some very special moments with his brother and face timing with some family and friends on his very good day and extremely stressful moments which brought us to our knees. Even though I really really don't like the rough patches, I hate to say that they are necessary for me that I don't fall into complacency of prayer, or forgetting to look at how far we have come, and, not seeing each step as a victory! I chatted with Steve's sister Laura, and we talked about how we just wanted Steve to get up and walk out. We all want that and I continue to pray for that. The wait is hard, the wait is so long, the wait is excruciating sometimes. I am so thankful that we have such a community around us (family and friends) that when one is at the end of the rope, another comes along to comfort, love, speak life and sometimes a little kick in the pants to re-direct our thoughts.

Nothing beats the Bible, I listen to the word daily, but it is so much better when I carve out time to just dive in and see what He has for me that day. I use many translations to help with understanding.
Today was such a blessing of God's angel laborers. They came, they grabbed furniture and stuff to go to junk and give away, had some fellowship in the hot sun and prayed together. What a beautiful picture of God's provision and love. We are so thankful and blessed.
Adam had a very good day today and walked unaided! I think he will be graduating to outpatient soon! What a miracle!
